The name SNORKEL traces back to 1959, when founder Art Moore established the company in the United States as a manufacturer of aerial firefighting equipment, with its first product able to lift firefighting crews to a height of around 26 metres. The company moved into the construction and industrial market in 1977 with its first telescopic boom lifts, introducing the industry's first aluminium upper booms and platforms. Snorkel expanded its range through the 1988 acquisition of Economy Engineering, a manufacturer of self-propelled scissor lifts, before eventually exiting the fire and rescue business to focus entirely on aerial work platforms. Today Snorkel is one of the founding names of the global aerial platform industry, building a broad range of boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other access equipment for the construction and industrial markets worldwide.

Models such as the SNORKEL 660SJ and 460SJ are diesel-powered telescopic boom lifts offering working heights up to 22 metres, 17.7 metre reach, 454kg capacity, and rough terrain 4x4 drive with a jib for added positioning flexibility. On the electric side, the A38E and S4726E scissor and boom models deliver working heights from around 10 to 13.5 metres with non-marking tyres, making them well suited to indoor sites and surfaces where marking must be avoided. The smaller SJ3219E and S3219E scissor lifts round out the range with compact working heights around 8 metres for lighter access tasks.
