The name RUTHMANN goes back to 1901, when founder Anton Ruthmann opened a bicycle and sewing machine shop in Gescher-Hochmoor, Germany. After the second generation took over following the war years, the company moved into building carts and trolleys, introducing its Cargoloader hydraulic truck bed in 1949. In 1954 Ruthmann developed its first Steiger aerial work platform, sold to the city of Duisburg, laying the foundation for the aerial platform business the company is known for today. Ruthmann later expanded through its 2011 acquisition of Time Deutschland Versalift and its 2016 purchase of Italian spider lift specialist Bluelift, before being acquired itself by US manufacturer Time Manufacturing Company in 2021. Today Ruthmann builds truck mounted and tracked aerial platforms at sites in Germany and Italy, sold under the Ruthmann, Steiger, Ecoline, and Bluelift brand names, and is recognised as one of Europe's leading manufacturers of aerial work platforms.

Under the Bluelift brand, RUTHMANN also produces tracked spider platforms such as the SA11P, an electric-powered lift with an 11 metre working height, 8 metre reach, 200kg basket capacity, and rubber tracks suited to indoor and sensitive-surface work.
