The name MEC stands for a line of aerial work platforms with roots going back more than 40 years to Mayville Engineering Company, a Wisconsin manufacturer that built scissor lifts under the MEC name before exiting the market at the end of the 1990s. In 2002 the aftermarket parts company Equipment Parts Wholesale acquired the MEC name, design rights, and manufacturing fixtures, and in 2004 formed California Manufacturing & Engineering Company (CMEC) to continue building updated versions of the original MEC scissor lifts from its facility in Kerman, California. Since 2016 MEC has partnered with Zhejiang Dingli Machinery, one of the world's top three aerial work platform manufacturers, which combined MEC's brand reputation and American design experience with Dingli's large-scale manufacturing capabilities.

The MEC 3247ES is a fully electric scissor lift with an 11.75 metre working height and 318kg capacity, built with non-marking tyres for indoor and light industrial work.
