The name LAKO goes back to 1986, when Jan Lageschaar, drawing on years of experience in the trailer and semi-trailer industry, set up his own company in Eibergen, the Netherlands. Together with a small team of enthusiastic professionals, he started out producing the first LAKO trailers and semi-trailers in a rented section of a hall on the Kiefteweg, alongside vehicle inspections and repair work. Through creativity and a consistent focus on quality, LAKO steadily found more customers and grew into a specialist known for handling nearly every stage of production in-house, from manufacturing and maintenance to blasting, flame galvanising and painting. Since 2022, LAKO has been part of the Plegt Carrosserie Groep, while continuing to build under its own name from Eibergen. From a single rented workshop to a respected Dutch trailer builder, LAKO has grown on the strength of custom-made, heavy-duty engineering.
