The name HOLLAND LIFT stands for a Dutch manufacturer founded at the end of 1983 by consulting engineer Martin Haak, with production starting in 1984 in Hoorn, the Netherlands. The company built its reputation on heavy-duty scissor lifts up to 34 metres in working height, developed initially for demanding industrial customers such as the Hoogovens steel works, and became known for combining a low centre of gravity with a high-tech hydraulic system that allows the platform to be driven and operated even fully loaded and extended. In August 2023, Holland Lift International ceased production and went into liquidation after nearly 40 years in business, which means every used Holland Lift machine on the market today is effectively a piece of a discontinued, once-premium range that is no longer being replaced with new stock.

The Ecostar series, such as the HL-9710 and HL-9714, are fully electric scissor lifts with working heights around 12 metres, capacities up to 325kg, and the ability to drive at full height on non-marking tyres, making them well suited to indoor and light industrial work. The heavier Combistar and Megastar series step up to diesel-powered 4x4 or 4x4x4 rough-terrain models, with working heights from around 21 up to 34 metres, load capacities up to 1,000kg, and hydraulic platform extensions for demanding outdoor and industrial sites.
