The name GROVE stands for American crane engineering heritage and dates back to 1947, when brothers John and Dwight Grove, along with friend Wayne Nicarry, founded the company in a small rented garage in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania. What began as a maker of rubber-tired farm wagons quickly evolved into a crane manufacturer, introducing the world's first slewing rough-terrain crane in 1968 and the trapezoidal boom design in 1970. Since becoming part of Manitowoc Cranes in 2002, GROVE has continued to push the boundaries of mobile crane technology with innovations such as the MAXbase variable outrigger system, and today produces its all-terrain cranes at a dedicated facility in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.
