The name DENKA stands for a brand established in Holbæk, Denmark, in 1967, which began building trailer-mounted lifts in 1975 and saw production take off in 1982 through a long-standing partnership with distributor Rothlehner. Denka became known for a distinctive approach to aerial platforms: lightweight, low floor-pressure machines that could reach heights other trailer lifts could not while remaining easy to tow and manoeuvre. After changes in ownership and a period of financial difficulty, the Rothlehner group acquired the rights and assets to DENKA-LIFT in 2013 and moved production to Germany, where the brand continues to be developed and built today. The Narrow series, including the DL22N, and the towable Junior series remain especially well known for their compact dimensions and ability to pass through single doorways.

Larger diesel or battery models such as the DL25 extend working heights to 25 metres with hydraulic wheel drive from the basket.
